Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Personal, Social and Emotional Development is one of the prime areas of learning from birth to 5 years of age.

There are three main aspects:

  • Making relationships

  • Self-confidence and self-awareness

  • Moving and handling

For babies we focus on the way they respond to adults and other children, use their voice and gestures to interact with others, show their emotion and seek comfort.

For toddlers we focus on the way they join in and share, show affection and develop friendships, separate from parents confidently and express their own preferences, interests and feelings.

For pre-school children we focus on their confidence in making conversation with adults and with other children, express their wants, needs and interests and help them to understand boundaries.
